Objectives
Find the intersection of "growth technologies" and HRRP technology strengths to determine near term opportunities and gaps and potential "clusters of capability".
Pursue research funding opportunities in clusters of capability.
Increase the number of top ranked researchers through an acquisition program - "Hampton Roads Scholars".
Increase research collaborations among HRRP members themselves and with outside institutions and industry where advantageous.
Build a sponsored research office capability to monitor availability of grants and identify less conventional opportunities (i.e., Defense Department appropriations bill).
Leverage federal, state and regional (MAPS) resources to develop necessary infrastructure to support Hampton Roads' clusters of capability.
Build a high-speed network to link existing resources with broadband capability to enhance a virtual environment for the region.

Retain more of the technology developed in Hampton Roads here in the region through activities such as local licensing and entrepreneurship.

Develop the relationships and capabilities necessary to team with local/regional economic development professionals to attract technology-based businesses to the region.
