HRRP Selected For New EDA University Center

Through a grant to Norfolk State University, the Economic Development Administration (EDA) of the U.S. Department of Commerce has established the Hampton Roads Research Partnership-University Center (HRRP-UC).

The EDA University Center Program (www.doc.gov/eda) is a unique federal-academic partnership established in 1966 that makes resources, expertise and technologies at institutions of higher education available to stimulate industrial, technological and commercial growth.

By its selection in a highly competitive process, HRRP-UC becomes the second EDA University Center in the Commonwealth of Virginia, joining the one at Virginia Tech. The program envisioned for the HRRP-UC will: leverage the resources of all HRRP participants; use the Technology Cluster Program; and involve proactive efforts to reach out to, and partner with, regional businesses with the goal of substantially growing the technology-based economy in the region.
